And now for 9800 GX2 Quad SLI reviews

This is expected so, the reviews are up already around the net. Do you think the results will justify a $1200 worth of gaming experience, on graphics card alone? You tell yourself.

I myself haven't got much time to go through those but I'll save it for some time later. Need to be ready to crunch on those benchmark numbers.. :)

NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 is here!

Finally, GeForce 9800 GX2 has arrived. A sandwich G92-based card is NVIDIA's answer to AMD's 3870 X2 and AFAIK the second multi-chip card from the green camp after 7950 GX2.

Various sites have posted their reviews of the card:

From a brief glance at those benchmarks made by AnandTech, I can see that 9800 GX2 performs very close to doubling the performance of 8800 GT. Remember this also brings more than twice the price of 8800 GT and nearly doubles the power requirement (195W against 105W). I do agree however that AnandTech should have included 8800 GT SLI performance into the benchmarks, which will make more sense for any potential buyers of both cards.

It's no doubt that only gamers with hi-res LCD monitor (I'm saying 22" and above...that's quite demanding!) will see the real benefit from this card. As always, happy gaming...for a $600 more!

9800 GX2, 9800 GTX closing by....

That's it then. For those who are hoping for a whopping leap of performance in GeForce 9800 series might find this news a little discouraging: 9800 GX2 and 9800 GTX will use the same 65 nm G92 found in 8800 GT. The difference is that it will use all its 128 shader processors, instead of 112. DailyTech has more stories about it here.

I personally will skip this generation although it's too soon to tell anything (apart from the fact that I'm not planning to spend any money to find 8800 GT replacement; it's good enough for me!). Anyway, I will keep a good eye on GX2's performance as it's a second attempt from NVIDIA after 7950GX2 didn't quite live up to expectation. Furthermore, they just can't leave 3870 X2 alone, can they?

And for 9800GTX, March 25th is the date!

Early 9800 GX2 retail pics

NDAs are flying everywhere for this card, so sorry folks...no actual specs are available at this moment. However, AnandTech received some pictures from Albatron about their upcoming 9800 GX2.

Well, I saw one 6-pin and one 8-pin power supply connector on the card. This reminds me of the 'hottie' AMD 2900 XT. Does this imply that we can still run GX2 with only (6 + 6)-pin connector connected, and (6 + 8)-pin connection to enable overclocking on this card?

Take a look at those pics here.
