More shots of Crysis!

Remember the last post that I've made on Crysis before? That shot was marvelous. One thing that I said that the shot was made under DX9.0c and not DX10.

I might want to reconsider that as through some further readings, I suspect that the shot was taken under DX10 during CryTek's demo on CES.

It is already a common knowledge to those who are into graphics industry that DX10 provides more room to accommodate more effects, alleviating bottlenecks in the current DX9.0c capability. In another words, more effects can be rendered FASTER. In much simpler words, for the same 3D scenes, DX10 gives more framerates to you than DX9. I don't expect expect the same type of transition such as SM2.0 to SM3.0 here, as SM4.0 is the one that allocates bigger room for faster effect rendition.

Having said that, let's take a look at a few more Crysis snapshots:

Another snapshot featuring the jungle environment. Somehow, the engine is very optimised for rendering the forest scenery. Absolutely gorgeous!

Notice how the surface of the super suit reacts with the ambient lighting!

07

The gun stays sharply rendered, but the left hand has been given the motion blur effect. Notice also the jungle and trees at far behind (looking above the hut) where Depth of Field is implemented!

06

The banana trees look awesome and realistic, and the whole scenery looks almost believable, if not for a fact that it's only an in-game shot.

05

Another great example of how daytime lighting is rendered in Crysis. Not many game that I've played so far has this level of daytime lighting realism. The shadow and the grass are of equal quality, if not better than those in Call of Juarez.

02

Strangely I don't feel intrigued much by this particular shot. The zinc roof should have been given a better shading as it being lit under the blazing sunlight. However, notice the localised motion blur effect on the super soldier left hand ripping the roof. The same thing can be said to the piece of zinc that flew off in front of him. It's obvious that the motion blur effect receives a better implementation in Crysis.

Crysis features Depth of Field, motion blur and amazing physics engine. It is said that almost all objects and tress in the jungle can be destroyed or interact with, except for the largest trees.

Stay tuned!
